IMLA’s curriculum development work is led through the Indigenous Curriculum Working Group, a student-led, faculty-supported initiative established in May 2025 in response to a recognized need for strengthened Indigenous health content within the undergraduate medical curriculum. The group began by mapping existing Indigenous health curriculum across all four years of UGME, identifying key gaps and areas for improvement. From this foundation, the team has developed and implemented new learning activities to address these gaps and enhance longitudinal learning. To date, six new educational activities have been successfully integrated into the curriculum. Please refer to the attached presentations for additional detail on the process and outcomes of this work.
